We have a factory sirius radio in a 2007 Ford Edge. We listened to the free preview, which ran out a couple days ago, and the radio went back to 'Call Sirius' - So we know it works. Decided to add that radio to my account, as I have another vehicle with sirius. Did it online, and waited. Nothing, Resent activation signal numerous times, nothing, double and triple checked the ESN, disconnected the battery, everything I could think of. Still nothing. Called Sirius, they had me do numerous things, and still it will not activate, after a couple hours with them, they suggested i go to the dealer, and get the radio 'hard reset' Visited the dealer today, they don't have a clue how to 'Hard Reset' the unit, so off to another Ford dealer, again, no clue, they even looked it up in the service manual, and no mention of a 'hard reset' They were able to press some buttons, and see if there were any error codes stored, which there wasn't. ![]() ![]() ![]() Since it's not under warranty, they would replace it for $400. I didn't think it was worth that. Reading on the F150 forums, and Edge forums, seems like I'm not the only one with this issue, somehow this latest free preview has done something to the radios where they won't activate. Sirius says 'hard reset' Ford says 'No such thing' Sirius has offered a free radio when I called them back, but we really don't want a seperate unit. I'm keeping my eyes on the other forums where a couple others are having the same issue. Wondering if anyone here has seen this, and possibly has a resolution. It's frusterating, because just a couple days ago, it was working fine. Ford radio I would have to say, somehow you dont have the correct ESN (electronic serial number) for the unit to be able to activate it.If it worked during the preview it is activatable. They may have a way in the ford manual to retrieve this ESN. I may also, ask Ford to try and give YOU the ESN then try again.Maybe ford has a different way of marking the sirius tuner box.Make sure when you call you are using Ford's provided phone number in the ford book perhaps they have their own line.Another idea.Hope you get it to work! Both the sirius radio and travel link esn is listed there. If the esn is all dashes as in ----------------, then the head unit us DEFECTIVE and will have to be replaced. PS the esn #'s are also listed on top of the unit (it must be removed to see them). But again if the esn is all dashes under 'information' then the head unit is DEFECTIVE. Been there, done that. I too could not get the Sirius 12 digit number by following the directions in the owner's manual of our 2009 FEH. It states that you should press the 'Preset 1' and 'Sirius' buttons simultaneously. Having trouble locating your Sirius Radio ID. The ESN (or SID) on Ford and Lincoln factory-installed systems can be found using one of the following four methods. I looked in a 2008 Escape XLT owner's manual and it states to hold the 'Preset 1' and the 'Aux' buttons simultaneously. Apparently Ford has an error in the 2009 owners manual, because when I press the preset 1 and the Aux button I get a valid Sirius 'ESN' number. Why would they have you press the Aux button and not the Sirius button. I think it's possible they changed the order of the radio function buttons, but not the Sirius code button in the 2009 models. If properly equipped with SiriusXM, the service inside your vehicle is pre-activated at the factory – so you can start enjoying it right away. Once you have chosen Sirius as the Audio Source, you can use voice commands or the Direct Tune icon on the SYNC 3 touchscreen to find a specific station. Touch Direct. I have a 2008 Ford Escape Limited and wish to add Sirius to the stock radio. The stock radio is the AM/FM 6 disc changer - Answered by a verified Ford Mechanic. ![]() ![]() Semi-on topic and semi-off topic here, but has anyone been able to register with the NAV system in their 09 Escape? I have an 09 FEHL with NAV and the owner's manual/packet included a NAV book that directed you to register with NAVTEQ. When I called them they told me that they stopped with the 08 model and that they are not the manufacturer nor provide support for the 2009 models. I know that syncmyride is not recognizing the 2009 models yet but I don't think they are the NAV support site either. I just picked up my '09 FEL I4 this past Saturday and went into NAVTEQ and Syncmyride both on Sunday and both sites let me register with no problem. NAVTEQ seems to be a generation or two behind and the latest vehicle model they show in the drop down menu is the 2007. That site provides you information that the cost of the update disk is $199 but I found out from the dealership that the new generation NAV system updates from the satellite link and does not need a disk. That is great. How did you register? Did they recognize your VIN on Syncmyride? I just tried again and it still will not recognize my VIN. Crud.oh well, I guess I will keep on waiting. Also on NAVTEQ what did you do? It would not let me and when I called them they acted like I was an idiot. That is actually normal for me according to my ex and my coworkers thought. That is actually normal for me according to my ex and my coworkers thought. GL.I actually did not do anything other than log on to the sites and entered the required information and make selections from the drop-downs. I saw the thread that the sites wouldn't let you register and just figured I'd give it a try. I was also able to subscribe to the Ford Owner's site with no problem. Seems like my VIN must have gone in immediately. I might not be so lucky with the Sirius site. I tried it a few minutes ago and it would not work. I just went out to my SUV and got the brochure and will see if there is anything magic tha tI have missed. Good luck with your attempts. I see, I signed up at the Ford Owner's site with no problems either but I don't see where you register with the syncmyride with drop down boxes (when I go there it asks me to input my vin and then I stop) and NAVTEQ does not show the 2009 at all. It must be a user error here so I will keep on trying. That is not exactly true.per the '09 FEH Nav System Manual, 'SYSTEM SOFTWARE UPDATES NAVTEQ offers system software updates for purchase. You can call 1-800-NAVMAPS or go to www.navteq.com. You will need to specify the make and model of you vehicle in order to determine if a map update is available. CD song/artist/title/album art database updates (CDDB) are available. There is no charge for the data, however, there is a nominal shipping and materials fee. Mapping updates will be available yearly. CDDB database updates are complimentary when a map update is purchased.' My understanding is that when you purchase an update, you are sent a DVD install disc that then updates the hard drive of your system.
